- They have divided Islam into the inner Haqiqah and the outer Shariah.
- The Sahabah did not go through spiritual training to understand the inner.
- The human soul contains parts of Allah.
- The Sufi aims to achieve Fanaah – Union with God.
- This concept is from Hindu Mysticism and Christian Mysticism.
- The steps of spiritual stages are called Maqamaat and Halaat.
- The new goal was the dissolution of the human soul, in order to become one with God.
- They method to achieve these stages is through dhikr.
Song and Dance
- Sufi Dhikr takes on a whole new form, which was unheard of in the time of Nabi SAW.
- Making various head and body movements.
- Choosing and repeating certain words, like Allah’s name or a part of Allah’s name.
- The Prophet SAW instructed us to say Tasbeeh Fatimi, which were not just names or words, but statements.
- Repeating the names of Allah, is not communication.
- It is more about the sounds than what is being said.
Remembrance of Allah should govern every aspect of life
- Salaah, reciting the Quran, even helping your family, should be done with the remembrance of Allah.
- Dhikr is not about achieving emptiness, but about reorientation.
- Remembrance of Allah is not confined to words and phrases.
- Remembrance of Allah is life.
- Achieving this state of Taqwa makes one superior to all others.
Allah (mighty and sublime be He) said: Whosoever shows enmity to someone devoted to Me, I shall be at war with him. My servant draws not near to Me with anything more loved by Me than the religious duties I have enjoined upon him, and My servant continues to draw near to Me with supererogatory works so that I shall love him. When I love him I am his hearing with which he hears, his seeing with which he sees, his hand with which he strikes and his foot with which he walks. Were he to ask [something] of Me, I would surely give it to him, and were he to ask Me for refuge, I would surely grant him it. I do not hesitate about anything as much as I hesitate about [seizing] the soul of My faithful servant: he hates death and I hate hurting him. It was related by al-Bukhari.
